The First World War Memorial in the Church of St. Pol de Leon, Paul (Cornwall)

Dave and Irene Flaxman's website for Cornish family histories includes a page for the Church of St. Pol de Leon in Paul (Cornwall). The church clock tower has been dedicated as a memorial to those men from Paul who lost their lives in the First World War. The dedication is as in the photo (above).

One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the War Memorial.

Private Thomas Warren Chirgwin. 46088. 12th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 187805 R E. Son of Charles and Elizabeth Warren Chirgwin, of Parr, Cornwall; husband of Mabel Irene Chirgwin, of Penzer House, Newlyn West, Penzance. Killed 7 January 1918. Aged 34.
Born Paul (Cornwall), Enlisted Penzance, Resided Paul (Cornwall).
Buried ACHIET-LE-GRAND COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION.
