Pickhill's War Memorial is a simple stone column set outside All Saints' Church, Pickhill, in the churchyard. The memorial commemorates 17 men who lost their lives in the First World War, and 4 who lost their lives in the Second World War.

A transcription of the names commemorated on the memorial is given on the Imperial War Museum's Register of War Memorials website.

6 soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on this memorial, two of whom are buried in the Churchyard.


Private Thomas Craven Bartram. 6510. 4th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, formerly 3109 Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Emanuel and Elizabeth Bartram, of Pickhill, Thirsk. Native of Sinderby, Thirsk. Killed 5 October 1916. Aged 25.
Born Pickhill (Thirsk - Yorks), Enlisted Pickhill.
Buried BIENVILLERS MILITARY CEMETERY.

Private John William Peacock, 36095. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 18 October 1916.
Born Ainderby (Yorks), Enlisted Pickhill (Thirsk).
Commemorated Pier and Face 3 A and 3 D, THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.

Private John Robert Stockdale. 28335. 9th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Husband of E. Stockdale, of Carthorpe, Bedale, Yorks. Killed 17 March 1917. Aged 29.
Born Pickhill (Yorks), Enlisted Pickhill, Resided Thirsk.
Buried LIJSSENTHOEK MILITARY CEMETERY.

Private Thomas William Thompson. 2390.
2nd / 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of William and Mary Harriet Thompson, of Pickhill. Died 4 August 1915. Aged 25.
Enlisted Pickhill (Thirsk).

Private George Wallace. 2388.
2nd / 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of the late James and Mary Wallace, of Pickhill. Died 4 March 1915. Aged 27.
Enlisted Pickhill (Thirsk).
Buried PICKHILL (ALL SAINTS') CHURCHYARD.

Private John Francis Wrightson. 38989. 22nd (Tyneside Scottish) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, formerly 20219 the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 31 October 1917.
Born Pickhill (Yorks).
Buried DOZINGHEM MILITARY CEMETERY.
