Inside St. Mary's Church, Piercebridge is
a) a framed memorial plaque commemorating those who lost their lives in the
First World War
b) a similar framed Roll of Honour for those who served in the First World
War.
One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the memorial in St. Mary's Church, Piercebridge.

Private John Francis Waller, 1681. 4th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Alfred and Mary Jane Waller, of 13, Piercebridge, Co. Durham.
Killed 17 September 1916. Aged 26.
Born Yafforth (Northallerton), Enlisted Skelton, Resided Piercebridge.
Commemorated on Pier and Face 3 A and 3 D, THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.
