The War Memorial, Pockley, located in the Cemetery

The War Memorial in Pockley is located some distance from the
Church, and is in the village cemetery. At the base of the cross is a square
block. Commemorations are on the four faces of this block.
On the South face (the main face under the cross) is carved
"TO THE GREATER GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO FELL IN THE GREAT
WAR 1914 - 1919"
On the North Face is carved
"GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR
HIS FRIEND"

Regiment. Killed 10 November 1916.
Buried WARLENCOURT BRITISH CEMETERY.
Enlisted Malton, Resided Helmsley.
Col. Serjt. Alfred Percy Wilson, MSM, 200702. 4th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Thomas and Emma Wilson of Great Ayton. Husband of Muriel
Wilson of the Old Parsonage, Bransdale. Died 2 December 1918. Aged 34
Enlisted Stokesley, Resided Kirbymoorside.
Buried BRANSDALE
(ST. NICHOLAS) CHURCHYARD.
Private George Wilfred Featherstone, 3374. 1st / 5th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Killed on 25 March 1916.
Buried BOULOGNE EASTERN CEMETERY.
