The First World War Memorial in St. Mary's Church, Redmire

There are two War Memorials inside St. Mary's Church, Redmire.
The First World War Memorial contains three names, two of whom served in the
Yorkshire Regiment.
Curiously, there is a grave in the churchyard for the Russell family, which
commemorates two men who lost their lives in the First World War but who are
not shown on the church memorial.
The Second World War Memorial commemorates the names of three men.
Private John Henry Ruecroft, 2845 / 200708.
4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Died at home 26 February 1919. Aged 27.
Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Redmire.
Buried REDMIRE
(ST. MARY'S) CHURCHYARD.
(Not shown in either the CWGC or SDGW databases. He enlisted into the 4th
Battalion in September 194, was severely wounded in September 1916 and discharged
from the Army as a consequence of his wounds in April 1917.)
Private Fred Lealman. 241657. 5th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Henry and Mary Lealman, of Castle Bolton, Redmire, Yorks.
Killed 10 April 1918. Aged 29.
Enlisted Leyburn, Resided Redmire (S O)
Buried MERVILLE COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION.
