The "War Memorial" in Rievaulx is the heavy wooden cross outside the Church of St. Mary which commemorates Charles William Reginald Duncombe, 2nd Earl of Feversham, who was killed at the Battle of the Somme on 15 September 1916. Inside the Church is further commemoration of the Earl of Feversham, with a description of the history of the cross which commemorates him.
It is interesting that the Earl of Feversham is also recorded on the Helmsley, Bilsdale (Town Green), and Chop Gate War Memorials. He was clearly much mourned.

The names of the men of Rievaulx who fell in the Great War are recorded on the Roll of Honour, also found inside the Church of St. Mary.
