Born Barrow-in-Furness, Enlisted Middlesbrough, Resided South Bank.
Commemorated on Panels 52 to 54 and 162A, TYNE COT MEMORIAL
(Shown on the Roll of Honour as "William Bell". However, evidence
for this being William Henry Bell of the Yorkshire Regiment is that his widow
(Register of Soldiers Effects) was Anastasia.
In Q1 1911 William Henry Bell married Anastasia in Guisborough. In the 1911
census they were living in 9 Stable Cottages, New Marske.)
Company Sergeant Major John Binks. 399. 4th Battalion
Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Ann Binks, of 127, High St., Marske-by-the-Sea,
Yorks, and the late Edwin John Binks. Killed 14 February 1916. Aged 37.

(SDGW gives date of death as 10/7/1916 vs CWGC date of 7/10/1916. GH Gazette
has J Petty reported as missing in Jan 1917, therefore CWGC date seems correct).

10th Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, formerly 2619 the Yorkshire
Regiment. Killed 17 September 1916.

(Shown on the memorial as Corbett Simmonds. Research by Richard Roberts (<richard.nsw@googlemail.com>)
shows that Corbett Simmons was born in Q1 1884 and was married to Emma. In
1911 they were living at 20 Dale Street, New Marske, and a son, - also called
Corbett Simmons, was born on 22 July 1912.)

Regiment. Son of the late Huddlestone and Elizabeth Smallwood, of New Marske.
Died at home 21 August 1916. Aged 24.
