Two brass plaques on the south tower wall at the west end of the nave in St. Peter's church form a War Memorial to those men from Ruddington who died in both World Wars.
The First World War Memorial is an oak-framed brass tablet with an incised decorative border of oak leaves and acorns. The memorial commemorates the 59 men of Ruddington who lost their lives in this war.
2 names on the memorial are those of soldiers who served in the Yorkshire Regiment.
We are extremely grateful to the Southwell and Nottingham Church History Project for permission to use the photographs of the memorial and the church. A transcription of the memorial tablet, with names and military / naval details included, is also to be found on the Southwell and Nottingham Church History Project website.
