In the churchyard of St. Paul's, Ryhope, one of the few remaining headstones is that of the Musgrove Family. This particular headstone commemorates two brothers who lost their lives in the First World War.


Lance Corporal George Musgrove, 15021. 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Robert and Isabella Musgrove, of 30, Alice St., Ryhope, Co. Durham; husband of Mary Musgrove. Killed 8 February 1917. Aged 24.
Born Ryhope (Sunderland), Enlisted Sunderland, Resided Ryhope.
Commemorated on Pier and Face 3 A and 3 D,THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.

Also commemorated, his brother Lance Corporal Thomas Musgrove, 34023. 2nd Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment. Son of Robert and Isabella Musgrove, of 49, Burdon St., Ryhope, Co. Durham. Killed 1 December 1917. Aged 21. Commemorated on Panel 9 and 10, CAMBRAI MEMORIAL, LOUVERVAL.
