The
War Memorial for Sand Hutton and Claxton

The War Memorial for Sand Hutton and Claxton is located on the road between Sand Hutton and Claxton, at the junction with the road to Bossall Lodge.
The memorial is in the form of a wheel cross on an octagonal
plinth. The names of those commemorated (14 for the First World War, and 2
for the Second World War) are carved on three of the faces of the plinth.
An overall dedication is carved onto a fourth face.
Five soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on this
memorial.

Son of George and Charlotte Addison, of Sand Hutton, York. Killed 30 July
1915. Aged 25.
