The War Memorial for Seaton Delaval stands on the Green, off Elsdon Avenue in Seaton Delaval.
The memorial is a tapering column, surmounted by a Cross.
The dedication is on the front face of the central block under this column.
The names of those commemorated are inscribed on the three side and back faces
of this block. 73 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the
First World War.
On the base of the memorial, 30 names are commemorated as having lost their
lives in the Second World War.
A transcription of these names can be found on the North
East War Memorials Project website.
Two soldiers who served in the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on this memorial.
We are extremely grateful Steve Elwood for permission to use his photographs of this memorial. His photos may be found on the Flickr website.
