The Sherburn Hill War Memorial is located in front of the Community
Centre on the South side of Front Street.
The memorial is a granite obelisk with the names of those who lost their lives
in the First World War commemorated on the four sides of the obelisk. Those
commemorated as having died in the Second World War are commemorated on the
base of the obelisk.
50 names of men who fell in the First World War are commemorated on the memorial, and a further 15 for those who died in the Second World War. A transcription of all the names can be found on the website for the North East War Memorials Project.
One man who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this memorial.
