Private David ADAMS, 204989

2nd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 29 September 1918. Aged 31.
Born Heselden (Durham), Enlisted Hartlepool, Resided Wingate (Co. Durham).
Buried SUCRERIE CEMETERY, EPINOY.

The photo of Private Adams has been kindly provided by Neil Smith (<wiltshirebear@hotmail.com>), a great grandson.
Neil Smith states that David Adams was born in April 1887 and was one of 9 children, and was the eldest boy in the family.

From the 1911 Census, David Adams married Jane Bryson, and they had a daugher Sarah. A son, Joseph (Neil Smith's grandfather), was born in 1914.

David Adams worked as a colliery haulier.

The photo of David Adams shows him in a uniform which is not that of the Yorkshire Regiment. It is assumed that he had served as a Territorial with another regiment, before enlisting into the Yorkshire Regiment.

Neil Smith (<wiltshirebear@hotmail.com>), a great grandson of David Adams, has written some commemorative words on his great grandfather. These may be read below.
