Lance Corporal Alfred BINKS. 203460.
2nd/5th York and Lancaster Regiment, formerly 2379 Yorkshire Regiment. Killed
20 November 1917.
Enlisted Wath-on-Dearne (Rotherham).
Commemorated on 9 and 10, CAMBRAI MEMORIAL, LOUVERVAL.
( "Enlisted : Wath-on-Dearne" is an error by Soldiers Died in the
Great War. It shoud, of course, have been "Wath (Ripon)".
David Kilvington, <mrdavidkilvington@outlook.com>, a great nephew of
Alfred Binks has provided the following information;-
From his Service Record (surviving) the following can be found;-
His fatherThomas Binks, his sister Mary (David Kilvington's grandmother),
and his brithers all lived in Wath near Ripon.
One of his brothers, Walter Binks (59910 Machine Gun Corps) was killed on
22 July 1917 and is commemorated on Bay 10, ARRAS MEMORIAL.)
