Major Reginald Edwin BOND.

4th Prince Albert Victor's Rajputs, Indian Army. Killed in action 3 March 1915. Aged 45.
Commemorated onthe TEHRAN MEMORIAL.
From "Officers of the Green Howards 1688 - 1931" by M L Ferrar;-
Born at Meerut 28th October 1870, son of Lieut.-Col Charles Frederick Bond, 105th Madras Light Infantry.
2nd Lieut., 9th January 1892; Lieut., 19th June 1895. Indian Army, 14th July 1896. Captain 10th July 1901. Major 9th January 1910.
Killed in action at Ahwaz, Persia, 3rd March 1915.

Peter H of the Find a Grave website posted the following information on Major Bond;-
"Major Reginald Edwin Bond, 4th Prince Albert Victor's Rajputs, Indian Army. He was the son of Lieutenant Colonel Charles Frederick Bond, 105th Madras Light Infantry, and Mary Alice Blanche Bond (nee White). Grandson of Lieutenant Colonel Henry Bond, 15th Hussars. Baptised on 22 Nov 1870 in Meerut, Bengal, India. Husband of Kathleen Emberson Bond (nee Gallaher), of 'Westlands,' The Avenue, Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire. They married on 9 Dec 1909 at the Parish Church, Titchfield, Hampshire. She later married Lieutenant Colonel George Montgomery Bond, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.

Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the Yorkshire Regiment as a 2nd Lieutenant on 9 Jan 1892. Promoted to Lieutenant on 19 Jun 1895. Transferred to the Indian Army on 14 Jul 1896, joining the 4th Bengal Infantry (retitled as 4th Prince Albert Victor's Rajputs in 1903) . Promoted to Captain on 10 Jul 1901 and to Major on 9 Jan 1910. They were stationed in Multan (Punjab, Pakistan) when WW1 started. They were mobilised on 20 Jan 1915 and were sent to Mesopotamia with the 12th Indian Infantry Brigade, 12th Indian Division, arriving at Basra on 7 Feb 1915. They fought at the Battle of Ahwaz, Persia on 3 Mar 1915 against an Arab force some 5,000 (or 12,000) strong. Major Bond was one of those killed in the action. He is commemorated on the Tehran Memorial, Tehran, Iran.

He is also commemorated on a memorial tablet in St James Church, Church Hill, West End, Southampton."
