Captain Wilfred Hubert CHAPMAN
6th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of Mr. J. J. and Fanny Chapman, of Whitby, Yorks; husband of May Campbell
Chapman, of The Home Farm, Cromer, Norfolk. Served in the South African Campaign.
Died 7 August 1915. Aged 35.
Buried AZMAK CEMETERY, SUVLA.
Captain Chapman is commemorated on a family memorial, together with his brother
Harold, in St. Mary's Church, Whitby (in addition to being commemorated on
the Town Memorial in the same church).

Captain Chapman is also commemorated on a family memorial in the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, Barkway (Herts). He married May Campbell Sinclair in this church on 5 August 1909. He and May had two daughters, Elizabeth Mary (b. 22 April 1911) and Annie Wilfrida Sinclair (b. 31 December 1913). His daughters erected the memorial in this church.
