Private George DOWNHAM, 1443.
5th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment.
Born in 1894 in Pocklington.
Served with the 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment (as No 1443) until being
wounded in about July 1916.
After recovering from his wounds he was transferred temporarily to the Labour
Corps (as No 496505) before returning to the 5th Battalion (No 4381388).
Discharged from the Army on 15 April 1919.
