9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Henry Hudson, of 17, Baring St., South Shields, and the late Elizabeth Hudson. Killed 9 October 1918. Aged 28,
Born South Shields, Enlisted Portsmouth, Resided South Shields.
Commemorated on Panel 5, VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL.

"Jim" of the North East War Memorials Project (<jampas@btopenworld.com>) has kindly forwarded the attached information (select the thumbnail image, - above) which comes from a contemporary in-house magazine of the Smith's Dock Company. In this information, Pte Hudson is referred to as "N A Hudson". His middle name would therefore have been "Austin" and not "Hustin", - even though both the CWGC register and SDGW refer to him by the latter name.
