2nd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Thomas William and Jane Smith, of 13, Broadway West, Dormanstown, Redcar. Killed 22 March 1918. Aged 24.
Born Middlesbrough, Enlisted Middlesbrough.
Commemorated on Panels 31 & 32, POZIERES MEMORIAL.

Joseph Henry Smith is also commemorated on the North Ormesby Methodist Church Memorial (now in the Dorman Museum, Middlesbrough), together with his brother Frederick Smith.

Frederick Smith was killed on 21 March 1918, aged 19. He served in the Northumberland Fusiliers (Service No 19764) and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial.
