The War Memorial in St. John's Church, Stanwick, is a brass plaque inscribed as follows;-

TO THE GREATER GLORY OF GOD
AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE
LOYAL MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO FOUGHT
FOR GOD AND RIGHT IN THE GREAT WAR
1914 - 1918
THE NAMES OF THOSE WHO DID NOT
RETURN ARE ENGRAVEN BELOW

Private John Bartrom, 18773. 6th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Husband of Ivy Massingham (formerly Bartrom), of High Conscliffe, Darlington. Killed 15 September 1916. Aged 23.
Born Norton (Yorks), Enlisted Richmond, Resided Carlton Aldbrough (Darlington).
Commemorated Pier and Face 3 A and 3 D, Thiepval Memorial.

Private John Moses Beach. 200484. 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of James and Annie Beach, of Aldbro', Darlington. Killed 3 May 1917. Aged 33.
Enlisted Aldborough (Darlington).
Buried MONT HUON MILITARY CEMETERY, LE TREPORT.

Private James William Stenson.
14348. Army Cyclist Corps, formerly 2254 Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 14 September 1918.
Born Aldbro' (Darlington - Durham), Enlisted Aldbro'.
Buried BERTINCOURT CHATEAU BRITISH CEMETERY.
