The War Memorial for the Nicolson Institute in the Museum of the Western Isles,
Stornoway

This plaque can be found inside the Western Isles Museum, located on Francis Street in Stornoway. It hangs above the stairway and commemorates Old Boys from the Nicolson Institute, the island's secondary school. The Museum used to be the main building for the Nicolson Institute, which is now located about a hundred yards away, on the other side of Matheson Road.
Two soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on this memorial.
Private Finlay MacIver. 33890. 13th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment, formerly 199 Army Veterinary Corps. Son of the late Kenneth and
Eliza Maciver. B.Sc. (Aberdeen). Died 22 March 1918. Aged 24.
Enlisted Stornaway (Lewis).
Commemorated Bay 5, ARRAS MEMORIAL.

Private John A MacRae. 235609. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment, formerly 4351 Scottish Horse. Son of James and Catherine MacRae,
of Viewfield, Lewis St., Stornoway. Born at Stornoway. Killed 23 November
1917. Aged 39.
Born Stornaway (Lewis), Enlisted Stornaway (Lewis).
Buried HERMIES BRITISH CEMETERY.
