Born Tottingham (Coundon, Durham), Enlisted Bishop Auckland, Resided St. Helens (Bishop Auckland).

2nd Lieutenant Arthur Horwood Eames. 1st Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, formerly served with the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 1 July 1916.
Commemorated on Pier and Face 2 C, THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.
From the official history of the Yorkshire Regiment in the First World War by Colonel H C Wylly;-
"2nd Lieutenant A H Eames joined the 2nd Battalion amongst a draft of Officers and men in April 1915.
He was wounded on 15 June 1915 when leading his men in an attack on German trenches near Givenchy."
Further details supplied by Robert Coulson;-
"2nd Lieutenant A H Eames was killed in action on July 1st 1916 aged 21 taking part in the East Yorkshires attack on the fortified village of Fricourt during the first day of the Somme offensive.
He was the son of Mr L H Eames of Upper Nash, Pulborough in Sussex."

Private George Eastwood. 7257. 1st/9th Battalion Durham Light Infantry, formerly 28639 the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Isaac Eastwood, of Grange Cottage, Sutton-on-the-Forest, York. Killed 5 November 1916. Aged 19.
