2nd Lieutenant Harry Needham Laing. 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Henry George Needham Laing and Sarah Laing, of The Lindens, Grove Park, Denmark Hill, London. A member of the London University O.T.C. Killed 17 September 1916. Aged 20.

2nd Lieutenant Hugh Blackhall Laird. 3rd Battalion attached to 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of the late Rev. David M. W. Laird, of 26, Napier Rd., Edinburgh. Killed 8 July 1916. Aged 20.

Private Thomas Laister. 3/8804. 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 8 February 1917.

Serjeant Jude Henry Lamb. 21092. 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Joseph Lamb, of "Heather View," Garden Terrace, Thornley, Co. Durham. Killed 8 February 1917. Aged 20.

Private George Lambert. 17314. 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mr. and Mrs. James Lambert; husband of Georgina Simpson (formerly Lambert), of 8, Ramseys Cottages, Swalwell, Co. Durham. Killed 10 July 1916. Aged 28.
Born Whickham, Enlisted Newcastle, Resided Swalwell (Durham).

Private Robert Hobson Lambert. 43563. 17th Battalion the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own), formerly 19062 15th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 17 April 1917.
Born Yeadon (Yorks), Enlisted York, Resided Selby (York).

(Richard Roberts, (<richard.nsw@googlemail.com>) states that Robert Hobson Lambert's father was James Robert and his mother was named Ann. In the Pension Ledger his mother is Ann and her address is Selby. In the 1911 Census records the Lambert family are resident in Selby.)

Private Joseph Lawery. This seems to be an erroneous entry on the Memorial. NO "J Lawery" is listed in the CWGC register. However, there IS a Joseph Lowery whose name is on the Memorial and who is listed in the CWGC register. See below.

2nd Lieutenant Henry Lawrence. 5th Battalion attached to 6th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of the late James and Adeline Lawrence, of 71, Manor Rd., Scarborough. Killed 17 January 1917. Aged 26.

Private David Slater Lawson. 16699. 8th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Husband of Mary Louisa Lawson, of II, Fir St., Hebburn Colliery, Co. Durham. Killed 10 July 1916. Aged 33.
