The Thornton Watlass War Memorial is dedicated to;-
"To the Honoured Memory of the Men of This Parish Who Fell in the Great Wars (sic) 1914 - 1918. For God, King, and Country"

Buried DUISANS BRITISH CEMETERY, ETRUN.

Lance Corporal Thomas Craddock, MM, 10610. 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 7 October 1916.
Born Clifton (Bedale, Yorks), Enlisted Richmond (Yorks), Resided Bedale.
Commemorated Pier and Face 3 A and 3 D, Thiepval Memorial.
(Although neither the CWGC register nor SDGW show Thomas Craddock as being a L/Cpl, or having the MM, the Green Howards Gazette database shows that he was both a L/Cpl and had been awarded the MM at the time of his death).

Private Richard MacDonald. 6/5679. 1st/6th Battalion Durham Light Infantry, formerly 28644 the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 14 November 1916.
Born Birmingham, Enlisted Bedale, Resided Thornton Watlass.
Buried ST. SEVER CEMETERY EXTENSION, ROUEN.

Private George Hambleton Money, 201261. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of George and Alice Leonora Money, of 43, Sussex Rd., Gorleston, Great Yarmouth. Killed 27 September 1918 (*). Aged 20.
Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Norwich.
Buried NAVES COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION.

(*) Both CWG and SDGW give date of death as 1918, NOT 1917 as on Memorial.
