The War Memorial for Wardle, Lancashire, is situated on the Wardle Road at the Southern end (near Smallbridge), just past the Old Library. The memorial is set in a small garden.

The memorial commemorates 87 names from the First World War and 19 from the Second World War.

One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this memorial.


Private Harry Rhodes. 41315. 17th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Charles & Betty H Rhodes of Smithy Bridge, Littleborough. Died 10 July 1919. Aged 21.
Born Wardle (Lancs), Enlisted Bury (Lancs).
Buried DEARNLEY (ST. ANDREW) CHURCHYARD.
(Private Rhodes' Pension Record exists. Enlisted 1March 1916. Discharged 10 September 1917 due to severe mental deficiency.)
