The War memorial inside the parish church, Welburn, is inscribed;-
"IN GRATEFUL AND LASTING REMEMBRANCE OF THE MEN OF WELBURN WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918."

The name of William Nash from the Second World War has been added at the bottom of the memorial.


Private George William Goodwill, 15455. 6th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 22 August 1915.
Born Settrington, Enlisted Whitby, Resided Hinderwell.
Commemorated Panel 55 to 58, Helles Memorial.
