The Reredos in St. Luke's Church, Whaley Thorns, is dedicated to those men
from the parish who lost their lives in the First World War. The names commemorated
are shown on panels on either side of the Altar. Approximately 40 names are
commemorated.
The right-hand panel, names "M" - "W" (together with one
"C"), includes a soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment.
We are very grateful to Richard Clarke and Chris Preston of the Derby and Derbyshire War Memorials Project for permission to use their images of this memorial.
