The following information is provided by Richard Roberts (<richard.nsw@googlemail.com>);-
In both the CWGC and SDGW records, his name has been transposed as Raymond
George Smith. The transposition has also occurred in the Yorkshire Regiment
Roll of Honour.
A George Raymond Smith was the son of Richard Andrew and Hannah Mary Smith
who had 10 children. He was born in 1895 at Charltons, a district close to
Guisborough, where he enlisted. Two younger brothers also perished in the
war they were Felix and James William.
