Bradford Roll of Honour

THE Bradford Roll of Honour 1914-1918 Memorial Book records more than 36,600 names of citizens of the district who served in the First World War. Of the names recorded in the book, 10500 are recorded as having lost their lives.
Bradford Council commissioned the Memorial Book more than a century ago as a tribute to those who served, and whose contribution they wished to immortalise for future generations. Now, thanks to a National Lottery grant, it has been fully transcribed into a searchable format by local historian Ray Greenhough. The Roll of Honour is now available to view on Bradford World War 1 Group’s website.
The original pages of the Roll of Honour can be viewed on the Flickr website. One such page, on which a soldier of the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated 2"nd Lieutenant Appleyard) is show below.

(*) The following additional information about Private Quincey has been provided
by Richard Roberts (<richard.nsw@googlemail.com>);-
Private Quincey's name appears in the Medal Rolls Index as Terence Quincey,
which is how he appears in the SDGW record. Fortunately, his service record
survives and shows that;-
He enlisted as Terence Quincey in the Yorkshire Regiment on 12th December
1915, aged 19 years 310 days and was described as a railway wagon painter
and labourer.
He was living at 55 Colewall Road, West Bowling, Bradford with his mother
Emma Jane Quincey, his next of kin. He trained and qualified as a Company
Cook on 6th July 1916 and was immediately posted to France.
He was attached to the Yorks and Lancs on 13th July and transferred to the
Regiment on 10th September 1916. He was posted as missing in the field on
9th April 1917.
I looked at the 1901 Census record and ascertained that his father was named
Joseph Quincey and he also worked on the railway as a labourer. However, I
couldn't find the family in the 1911 Census until almost by chance, I happened
upon the name of Emma Jane "De" Quincey whose family in Bradford
included husband Joseph and son Terence.
Checking the Commonwealth War Graves Register, he is listed in that as "De
Quincey".
