Ferryhill Cemetery, Co. Durham, contains 14 burials from both the
First and Second World Wars, with 7 of these being for the First World War.
Amongst the names commemorated are two for soldiers who served with the Yorkhsire
Regiment. Curiously, their headstones are not the standard Commonwealth War
Grave headstones but are those provided by the family.

Serjeant Edward Henderson, 3/9110.
9th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Husband of Jane Ann Henderson, of
19, Bertha St., Broom, Ferryhill. Died at home 14 October 1914. Aged 46.
Born Yafforth (Northallerton), Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Ferryhill.

Private George William Stobart, 19718.
Depot, the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mrs. Isabel Stobbart, of 5, George
St., Chilton Lane, Ferryhill. Died at home 20 March 1915. Aged 32.
Born Hartburn (Durham), Enlisted Ferryhill (Co. Durham)
(Shown in the CWGC Register as "G W Stobbart". Shown in SDGW
as "W G Stobart")
