Private James Christopher Wilson, 3944. 4th
Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Died at home 11 January 1916.
Enlisted Middlesbrough.
Private Wilson was in the 2/4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, which
at the time of his death was stationed on the East Coast (Clacton-on-Sea)
on coastal defence duties. A report on Private Wilson's funeral, from
a local newspaper, can be read by selecting the small sized image below.
It is assumed that the cause of Private Wilson's death was a training
accident, especially in view of the very large turn out at his funeral
by members of the Battalion.
