Private Charles Goodwin. 5/38550. 15th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment,
formerly T/260925 R A S C. Died at home 26 March 1917. Aged 18.
Born Cropwell Butler, Enlisted Nottingham, Resided Sandiacre.
Private Goodwin is shown in the Commonwealth War Graves database as "Private
Charles Goodwin, 77900. Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment) transf.
to (TR/38550) 10th Bn. Training Reserve". However, the 15th Battalion
Yorkshire Regiment was a Training Battalion, and a large number of youngsters
were enlisted in that battalion. It is assumed that he was at some point in
the 15th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, as shown in SDGW.
Charles Goodwin died of Meningitis in the Cannock Chase Hospital.
Nigel Wood has provided something of Charles Goodwin's family background on the Langar Cum Barnstone Parish Council website.
