Rylstone (St. Peter) Churchyard. 4 Commonwealth War Graves from both World Wars. One of the burials is that of an Officer of the Yorkshire Regiment.

Captain Michael Day Wade Maude. 3rd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Lt. Col. W. W. Maude, of The Fleets, Rylstone. Died at home 14 October 1917. Aged 27.

The dedication on the headstone reads as below;-

IN PROUD MEMORY OF
MICHAEL DAY WADE MAUDE
CAPT 9TH BATT (??) A.P.W.O. YORKS REGT
DIED OF WOUNDS RECEIVED AT
INVERNESS COPSE, BELGIUM
AND WAS INTERRED (HERE?)
BORN SEPT 29 1890 DIED OCT 14 1917
ALSO OF
GERALD WILLIAM EDAWRD MAUDE
CAPT. 1ST BATT A.P.W.O. YORKS REGT
WHO DIED OF WOUNDS RECEIVED AT
DAKKA, AFGHANISTAN AND WAS
INTERRED AT PESHAWAR, INDIA
BORN NOV 20 1888 DIED NOV 5 1919
DEARLY BELOVED SONS OF
WILLIAM WADE MAUDE AND
BEATRICE MAUDE
OF THE FLEET, RYLSTONE
