Yorkshire
Regiment War Graves, - York Cemetery |
During the 1914-1918 War, York contained the Headquarters, Northern Command, the York Record Office; the Depot of the West Yorkshire Regiment and four auxiliary hospitals.
York Cemetery contains 152 First World War burials and 85 from the Second World War. The cemetery has become very overgrown. However, despite this all the CWGC plots are carefully maintained with, where necessary, mown paths to provide access.
We are very grateful to Richard Roberts (<richard.nsw@googlemail.com>) for providing the photos from this cemetery.
