The Darlington War Memorial consists of an obelisk on which is inscribed;-

"TO OUR GLORIOUS DEAD
THEIR NAMES ARE INSCRIBED ON MARBLE TABLETS IN THE HALL OF MEMORY
1814 - 1918
1939 -1945"

Behind the obelisk is the Memorial Hall, part of Darlington Memorial Hospital. In this hall there are 11 marble panels on which 875 names are recorded.

The names are listed alphabetically in a PDF file, with the name of the soldier's regiment against the individual's name, which can be read by selecting the link below.

Of the 875 names listed on the panels, 102 could not be immediately identified with respect to the soldier's regiment.
Of the remainder, 244 were men of the DLI, 60 were men of the Yorkshire Regiment, and 61 were men of the Northumberland Fusiliers.
