The Forres War Memorial is situated at the end of Forres High Street next to the Grantown road (A940) roundabout.
It was designed by the well known Edinburgh sculptor Alexander Carrick out of stone from Wester New Forres and with the figure in Bronze. It was unveiled on 23rd August 1922 in honour of the brave men of Moray who lost their lives in the First World War. The Forres War Memorial features the statue of a Seaforth Highlander by Edinburgh sculptor Alexander Carrick which is 7'9" high and stands on a 13' high cairn type pedestal constructed of blue whinstone from the Califer Quarry.
The memorial commemorates 179 names from the First World War and 54 names from the Second World War. There is also 1 name from the Gulf War. Amongst the names is that of Corporal William Anderson, VC, of the Yorkshire Regiment.
