The First World War Memorial in the Salendine Nook Baptist Church

The Salendine Nook Baptist Churchis off Moor Hill Road.

Unfortunately, the only photo obtainable of the memorial is one from the church's website, following restoration of the building and replacement of the memorial.
The memorial is a marble plaque commemorating 32 names of those who lost their lives in the First World War. Also commemorated are those who served and returned.

2 soldies who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on this War Memorial.


Private Albert Edward Lumb. 235584. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 3726 York Dragoons. Son of Mrs. Mary Ann Lumb, of 93, Prospect Rd., Longwood, Huddersfield. Killed 23 November 1917.
Enlisted Harrogate, Resided Longwood (Huddersfield).
Commemorated on Panel 5, CAMBRAI MEMORIAL, LOUVERVAL.

Private William Morton, 29171. 8th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Dan and Jane Morton, of Moor Side, Old Lindley, Holywell Green, Halifax, Yorks. Killed 28 September 1917. Aged 31.
Born Huddersfield, Enlisted Halifax.
Buried TYNE COT CEMETERY.
