The First World War Memorial to Sheffield's Municipal Officers Guild in Sheffield's Town Hall is a rectangular plaque surrounded by a border of a laurel garland in relief. Raised inscription and names with caps. Names in three columns. At the top under a row of Greek Key pattern is the Arms of the City of Sheffield surrounded by two roses. In the border at the center of the base is a badge with a monogram of NALGO.

38 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, of whom 1 had served in the Yorkshire Regiment.


Lance Serjeant William Kenyon Birtles, 15874. 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Henry and Annie Birtles, of Sheffield. Died of wounds 10 January 1917. Aged 27.
Born Blackburn (Lancs), Enlisted Sheffield.
Buried ETAPLES CEMETERY.
