The Wheathampstead War Memorial is on a stone base surmounted by plinth, with a shaft and Cross of Sacrifice. It is sited within a walled area set back from the High Street with iron gates at the front. Panels in relief on the sides of the plinth with inscription in black lettering. Bronze sword on the Cross with a bronze wreath at the base of the shaft. WW2 names around the base of the shaft on 'headstones'.

The memorial commemorates the names of 71 men who lost their lives in the First World War, and 34 men from the Second World War. A transcript of all the names is on the Imperial War Museum's Register of War Memorials website.
