The War Memorial for Cloughton
The War Memorial for Cloughton.

The War Memorial for Cloughton is located on West Lane, where the A171 road to Whitby leaves Cloughton village at the North end.

14 servicemen who lost their lives in the First World War are commemorated on it. Amongst the names are four for soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment. Details of these men are below, together with further images of the memorial.
Although a Yorkshire Regiment soldier is buried in the nearby churchyard, this particular soldier came from Norton-on-Tees / Stockton-on-Tees. He died in a Voluntary Aid Detachment Hospital in Hornsea (some miles South of Cloughton / Scarborough).

We are very grateful to Richard Roberts (<richard.nsw@googlemail.com>) for providing us with the photographs of the memorial.
