The War Memorial for Malton is located on the south side of Malton at the junction of Yorkersgate (B1248) and Horsemarket Road. The names of 92 men who lost their lives in the First World War are commemorated on a panel mounted in the wall behind the cross. Another panel commemorates 20 men who lost their lives in the Second World War, together with a woman who served with the VAD.
The Rotary Club of Malton and Norton has a website on which the names of those commemorated on the Malton War Memorial are shown, with details. One of the names, H Pickering, is wrongly shown on the Rotary Club website as being a man who served with the Royal Marine Light Infantry, whereas the correct "H Pickering" served with the Yorkshire Regiment.
30 men who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on the Malton memorial.
An additional panel has been added to the Malton War Memorial, dedicated on Sunday 16 September 2018. The Order of Service for the dedication ceremony includes a photo of the memorial. showing the location of the additional panel (on the extreme left). 4 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, - 1 of whom served in the Yorkshire Regiment. 9 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the Second World War, and 1 in a subsequent conflict (this latter name was a Green Howard of the 1st Battalion, killed in Northern Ireland).
